Particle launches Radar, a podcast search engine for AI agents
Particle, the AI newsreader startup, has introduced Radar, a podcast search engine that transcribes and understands audio for AI agents, indexing over 130,000 podcasts and attracting hedge fund customers.
Radar grew out of a feature in Particle's news-reading app that used an API to source podcast clips for its feed. Co-founder and CEO Sara Beykpour said the team realized the product's value but saw it was "somewhat trapped in the news reader," so the company decided to pivot to building an API for podcast intelligence as interest in AI agents accelerated.
Hedge funds have been among the earliest adopters. Beykpour told TechCrunch: "Hedge funds have been the highest-volume customers that are directly integrating with the API." Other top-paying customers include AI search platforms and data resellers, and Exa, a search API provider for AI agents, is one of Radar's partners.
Radar transcribes all Apple Top 200 podcasts across 135 verticals, with 20,000 episodes added to its index daily. The transcriptions include speaker labels and rich metadata, as the system recognizes entities such as people, companies, brands, products, and topics. It can track mentions of these entities across podcasts and send alerts via email, Slack, or webhook, with customizable filters that let users limit alerts to certain guests, topics, or top podcasts.
Radar can extract self-contained clips with timestamps, allowing users to listen to and read the comments. Beykpour said: "We've pre-chosen notable clips, so if you can't listen to the whole podcast and you don't want to read a summary, this is the best way to just get an idea of what's happening in that podcast." The tool also tracks listener ratings and reviews, episode ads, and includes a dedicated podcast ads search engine that finds every episode where a given company advertises and tracks how that changes over time.
Additional features include political bias analysis, chart rankings data, audience size estimates, sponsorship data, and brand suitability. While Radar is accessible through a web interface, its main product is an API and MCP server that lets AI agents and other businesses tap into the intelligence programmatically.
Radar is priced at $29 per month per seat, with a $399-per-month business plan that includes 20 seats. API users receive custom pricing based on their needs. The company plans to expand Radar beyond podcasts to other forms of audio, such as YouTube videos and news clips.
