Pinterest Introduces AI Beauty Guides to Turn Pins Into Salon Plans
Pinterest launched Beauty Guides, an AI feature that turns saved hair and nail Pins into salon-ready instructions, including terminology, timing, price ranges and upkeep details.
The feature is powered by Pinterest Intelligence, the company's visual intelligence and generative AI technology, TechCrunch AI reported. It translates Pins into terms and phrases used by stylists and nail artists that everyday users may not know, including "balayage," "root melt," and "almond nails."
Pinterest described the tool as a practical way to bring AI into something users already do: bringing a photo of their inspiration to the salon. According to TechCrunch AI, having the right terminology at hand while discussing what parts of a look to edit or change can also be useful.
The guides offer information intended to help users plan a visit, such as how much time each part of the process may take and cost. TechCrunch AI noted that balayage can run into the hundreds of dollars, making price information useful up front.
The action guides appear when a user taps the "Get the Guide" button within the app, according to the report. They then offer details about what specifically to ask for to achieve the same look, the time it takes, price range and maintenance requirements, such as how often to trim, tone or touch up.
At launch, the feature will work across Pins related to hairstyle, color, nail shape and finish.
