Pixel 11 owners cite over-sensitive wake gesture; Gemini Device Help reaches all Android 17 Pixels

The only workaround for now is to disable Lift to check phone in lock screen settings, which gives up the feature entirely. Some Reddit commenters think Google will address the issue in an upcoming software update. Android Authority said it has contacted Google for comment and will update its article when the company responds.

In a separate development, Android Authority reported that Gemini can now adjust system settings on any Pixel running Android 17. The newly debuted Device Help feature in the Pixel 11 series lets users describe what they want to accomplish, and Gemini returns relevant settings and can offer to apply multiple changes in one tap. Google's Minhaz A V posted a video on X showing Device Help in action: the assistant surfaced features such as dark mode and screen brightness settings after being asked to make the phone 'comfortable to use at night.' The post said Device Help is available on any Pixel phone running Android 17 and that it will come to more devices in the future.

Minhaz did not specify which devices would receive Device Help later. Since Android 17 is currently limited to Pixel phones, the feature is likely to be available first to phones running that version. In Android Authority's testing, results have been mixed: asking for help with the Magic Capture camera feature on two different Pixel 11 devices produced two different sets of instructions. Still, Minhaz noted that an Android phone can have more than 300 settings, and an automated process that uses natural language to find the right ones should be useful once the bugs are resolved.

Device Help is available now on Pixel phones running Android 17, which includes Pixel 6 and newer, with more devices expected to follow.
