Report: Pixel 11's Tensor G6 trails Apple and Samsung chips by wide margins in benchmarks and gaming.
Google has long argued that Tensor is about more than benchmark scores, focusing instead on AI, camera, connectivity and battery life. The article acknowledges those strengths, but says that when a phone is priced above $1,000 and competitors are dramatically faster, last longer on a charge and sometimes sell for much less, the Tensor G6 increasingly looks like the Pixel 11 family's weakest link. The report notes that even though the Pixel 11 line is newly released, older rivals already on shelves make its processor feel outdated.
Apple's custom silicon provides the clearest contrast. According to the report, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max outperform Google's chip by up to 43 percent in single-core CPU tests, 35 percent in multi-core CPU tests and 73 percent in GPU benchmarks. The publication attributes the lead to Apple's end-to-end control over CPU, GPU, AI acceleration and, increasingly, modem components.
Among Android competitors, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy is 36 percent ahead in single-core performance and 53 percent ahead in multi-core performance in the same tests. Graphics headroom is described as even more glaring, allowing higher frame rates and graphics settings in real games and smoother performance in emulators. The report adds that the Tensor G6's PowerVR GPU continues to miss out on ray tracing and other advanced graphics APIs.
One of the more striking examples cited by Android Authority is Samsung's mid-range Galaxy S25 FE. Even with the 2024-era Exynos 2400, that phone beats the Tensor G6 by 26 percent in 3DMark's Wild Life Extreme GPU test, despite the Tensor's newer CPU cores retaining a lead of about 22 percent in single-core and 5 percent in multi-core scores. The publication says an upcoming Galaxy S26 FE with a newer Exynos 2500 is expected to widen that gap, offering a $699 alternative with more general-purpose and gaming performance than the $1,299 Pixel 11 Pro XL.
