Pixel 11 series keeps Pixelsnap magnetic accessories, analysis finds

Pixelsnap debuted on the Pixel 10 family last year, making Google the first major phone brand besides Apple to fully use Qi2 wireless charging. In an analysis, Android Authority said it was glad to see the system return on the Pixel 11 models, having feared it would be a one-year effort.

The outlet noted that Google’s Pixelsnap accessory lineup has been updated, including new cases for the four new phones from Google and third-party makers such as dbrand, Spigen, Mous, Case-Mate and Bellroy. The Ring Stand accessory now comes in colors matching the phone options.

Charging speed has been increased to 25W when pairing a Pixel 11 Pro with the Pixelsnap charger, up from 15W of cable-less power. However, Android Authority said the Pixelsnap Charger Stand no longer color-matches, creating a two-tone effect with the white stand.

The article also argued that Google remains the only major phone brand other than Apple to properly tackle magnetic accessories, despite Qi2 being around since April 2023. HMD, whose 2024 Skyline was the first Android handset with full Qi2 support, is a small player. Samsung, meanwhile, sells magnetic accessories but does not highlight them prominently, and its Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy S26 lack built-in magnets, requiring a case for Qi2 charging.

Android Authority acknowledged opposition to magnets, noting they can interfere with reverse wireless charging and add cost. But it said there is no shame in copying good ideas, and hoped Pixelsnap remains on the Pixel 12 series. It also noted Google removed the thermal sensor on Pixel Pro models this year, suggesting the company could drop Pixelsnap in the future.
