Pixel 11 still waiting on Android 17 QPR1 as older Pixels get the update
Pixel 11 owners still await Android 17 QPR1, announced September 17, while older Pixel phones have received it, Android Authority reports.
QPR1 is the first Quarterly Platform Release built on Android 17. Android Authority describes it as carrying the largest collection of new features since Android 17 made its debut, and notes that it also introduces some performance problems of its own. The site said it had been eager to get the release in hand.
The wait runs against the way Google has long pitched its hardware. Buyers who want the newest Android features ahead of everyone else are expected to buy a Pixel, and because not every new tool supports the oldest Pixel models, staying on the cutting edge has meant picking up Google's latest model as soon as possible. Owners of the current flagship are instead watching older devices receive the update first.
This is not the first time the Pixel 11 has appeared to sit out a release. Android Authority notes that the phone has already been involved in other incidents in which it seemingly had to skip updates, without identifying them in the piece.
Google announced the availability of Android 17 QPR1 on September 17. Android Authority's October 7 report described the gap as rapidly approaching one month and asked why Pixel 11 users were still waiting. The report does not include an explanation from Google for the delay.
