The new button lets users update the current weather shown on the widget without waiting for the next background refresh.

The update also removes the arrow controls that previously appeared on hourly and daily forecast views. Those buttons allowed users to move left and right through weather predictions. Android Authority reported the change as part of another set of subtle updates to the app.

Pixel Weather has been positioned as one of the stronger options for users who track weather trends frequently. It combines detailed data with visual presentations and offers a custom AI summary that can help users plan ahead for trips to other locations. The app already provides a broad range of information, leaving limited room for major changes. Google's product engineers have continued to make small adjustments aimed at keeping the experience engaging.

The refresh button addresses a specific limitation in the widget experience. While opening the app triggers an active refresh, the widget operates on its own background schedule.
