PocketBook unveils Verta e-readers as Fitbit Edge leak details specs and pricing

PocketBook announced six-inch Verta e-readers with swappable back panels, while a leak detailed Google’s Fitbit Edge specs and pricing.

The PocketBook Verta and Verta Color are each sold in one color: Obsidian Black for the Verta and Dark Brown for the Verta Color. Buyers can also purchase a selection of five interchangeable back panels in different shades, allowing them to change the color of the device. Both models have a 6-inch 1072 x 1448 touchscreen, a front light, a 1,500mAh battery that PocketBook says lasts up to two months on a single charge, 16GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, and an IPX4 splash-resistance rating. They support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, text-to-speech, and numerous book file formats. The e-readers run a proprietary operating system, but users can borrow ebooks through Libby or purchase books through what TechRadar describes as “the world’s most comprehensive English-language UK digital eBook library,” with 4.5 million eBooks and 90,000 audiobooks protected by LCP DRM.

The main difference is the screen. The Verta Color uses a color E Ink Kaleido 3 display, while the standard Verta uses a grayscale E Ink Carta 1300 display. TechRadar noted that color E Ink screens tend to be darker than black-and-white ones, and the Verta Color’s resolution drops to 536 x 724 when displaying color. Both devices are due to ship in November. The Verta costs £159, roughly $210 or AU$300, while the Verta Color costs £169, around $225 or AU$320. That places the Verta near the price of the standard Amazon Kindle 2026 and the Verta Color well below the latest Kindle Colorsoft.

Separately, Android Authority reported that a leak from Dealabs suggests the Fitbit Edge could cost €179 in the EU and £159 in the UK. The fitness tracker is expected to come in four colors similar to those of the Pixel Watch 5. The same leak indicates the device may have a 17.7g aluminum body, a 1.34-inch AMOLED display, a 5 ATM and IP68 rating, and up to seven-day battery life with a user-replaceable battery. For health tracking, the Fitbit Edge could include GPS, ECG, SpO2, skin temperature, blood pressure trend, and insulin resistance tracking. It could also be paired with Gemini AI coaching and support Android and iOS. An earlier leak said the screen-equipped tracker sits between the Fitbit Air and the Pixel Watch 5 in Google’s lineup. The Fitbit Edge details come from an unconfirmed leak.
