Poco launches F9 Ultra and F9 Pro smartphones; Roku enters OLED TV market with under-$1,000 models
Poco unveiled its F9 Ultra and F9 Pro phones with 185Hz displays and Bose audio, while Roku introduced its first OLED TVs starting at $999, undercutting LG and Samsung.
The Poco F9 Ultra, the higher-end model, has a 6.9-inch OLED display with a 185Hz refresh rate and a claimed peak brightness of 10,000 nits. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, and a large 8,050mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. The camera system includes a 200-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel 5x periscope telephoto, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide.
The Ultra also continues Poco's partnership with Bose, featuring a 2.1-channel sound system with a light-up subwoofer that has an LED ring for notifications and gaming effects. According to The Verge, the phone supports Bose's game audio engine, which can accentuate sounds like enemy footsteps in FPS games. The display's 185Hz refresh rate is supported by more than 20 games at launch, including Clash of Clans and GTA: Liberty City Stories.
The more affordable F9 Pro shares the same bright 185Hz display but has a smaller 6.59-inch screen, a 6,330mAh battery, and simpler stereo speakers without the subwoofer or LED ring. It uses a binned version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, called the V Series, with slightly reduced performance. Its telephoto and ultrawide cameras are also less capable.
Pricing for the phones varies across reports. The Verge lists the F9 Ultra at €1,099.90 with an early-bird price of €829.90, and the F9 Pro at €899.90 with an initial offer of €739.90. Engadget, however, reported that a Poco spokesperson said the F9 Ultra would be priced under $800, and Android Authority estimated a starting price of around $858. Both phones will receive four years of OS updates and six years of security support.
On the TV front, Roku announced its first OLED models. The Roku Pro Series OLED is available now in 55- and 65-inch sizes starting at $999. It has a 4K 120Hz panel, four HDMI 2.1 ports, Dolby Vision, HDR10 Plus, AMD FreeSync Premium, and auto low latency mode for gaming. It comes with a backlit voice remote and a remote finder button on the TV.
The step-up Roku Pro Series LX OLED, launching in October, adds a 144Hz variable refresh rate, higher brightness, and an advanced polarizer to reduce reflections. The Verge reports it will cost $1,299 for the 55-inch model and $1,599 for the 65-inch model, while Engadget says the size has not been determined and the price starts at $1,299. Both TVs are Amazon exclusives for 2026.
Roku's entry into OLED is notable because its pricing undercuts competitors like LG and Samsung, which typically charge more for comparable models. The Pro Series OLED, for example, is $999 for 55 inches, while LG's B6 is listed at $1,299 and Samsung's S85H around $1,199, according to TechRadar.
