Pokémon Legends: Z-A holds $39.88 Amazon discount after October sale ends
Amazon is still listing Pokémon Legends: Z-A at $39.88 for the Switch and Switch 2 after its October sale event closed, according to The Verge. The game is the first main-series Pokémon title built around real-time battles rather than turn-based combat.
The same Verge article gives the discounted price as $39.88 in its headline and as $39.99 for the Switch 2 version in a separate purchase link. The publication does not explain the one-cent difference. Both figures sit well under the $59.99 Switch and $69.99 Switch 2 standard prices cited in the same piece.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A is the first game in the main series to use a real-time battling system instead of the traditional turn-based formula, The Verge reported. Players still catch, level up, trade and battle Pokémon, but the game is set in Lumiose City, a location modeled on Paris. The publication described the more action-oriented combat and the game's performance on the Nintendo Switch 2 as welcome changes.
The Verge reviewed the game close to its release last October and concluded it continued the Legends series' practice of overhauling core mechanics that many players consider outdated.
Extra content comes through Mega Dimension, a paid downloadable expansion priced at $29.99. A Switch 2 Edition bundle containing the base game and the expansion is scheduled to arrive on October 29, 2026, for $99.99. The Verge advised buying the standalone game while the current discount holds, saying it is cheaper than the upcoming bundle.
The writer of the Verge article said the game was the only item to end up in their shopping cart during the outlet's coverage of Amazon's October sale, pointing to the Lumiose City setting and the real-time battles as the reasons for interest. The last Pokémon titles that writer had played were Let's Go, Eevee! and, before that, Pokémon Moon.
