Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Returns with Subtler Look, Same Track-Focused Hardware
Porsche's updated 911 GT3 Touring keeps its 502-hp naturally aspirated flat-six and adds a deployable rear spoiler for a subtler silhouette, according to Ars Technica.
The GT3 occupies a unique position in the 911 lineup, the report explains. While the range-topping Turbo S focuses on power, technology, luxury, and all-weather capability, the GT3 has always pursued a lighter weight and a finely honed setup that places the driver at the center. Porsche introduced the GT3 in 1999, added the more extreme GT3 RS in 2003, and launched the slightly more reserved GT3 Touring in 2017, followed by the GT3 S/C convertible earlier this year.
The Touring's original concept was simple: take the standard GT3, including its naturally aspirated engine and track-focused suspension, and replace the fixed rear wing with the deployable spoiler from the Carrera. That produces a subtler version of the homologation car while preserving the classic 911 silhouette without giving up the hardware that distinguishes a GT3. The latest iteration sticks closely to that design.
Standard equipment includes massive brakes, rear-axle steering, a GT3-specific suspension, an active sport exhaust, and other road-course-oriented features, according to the report. No further details on pricing or availability were provided.
