PS5SX2 v2.00 Brings PS2 Emulation Up to 120 FPS to Jailbroken PS5 Consoles

Android Authority reports that PS5SX2 v2.00 adds frame generation up to 120 FPS, 8x PS5 Pro resolution scaling, HD texture packs, and some online multiplayer, but only on jailbroken PS5s running firmware v13.60 or lower.

The update depends on the Relapse exploit, which Android Authority describes as making it fairly easy to jailbreak a PS5 as long as it is running firmware v13.60 or lower. That firmware was released in July 2026, so users who skipped the recent v14.xx updates can run homebrew applications and even a Nintendo Switch emulator on the console, according to the report.

The PS5 jailbreak community has seen a surge in activity this month, most of it riding on the Relapse exploit, Android Authority reported. The exploit’s firmware ceiling means newer PS5 systems or consoles updated beyond v13.60 are not covered by the same method described in the report.

Developer sword_pdf rolled out PS5SX2 v2.00, described by Android Authority as a major update to the standalone PlayStation 2 emulator built for jailbroken PS5 consoles. The release gives users of those systems a way to play classic PS2 games on current hardware, with the new features above.

The main strings attached are the jailbreak requirement and the firmware limit. Android Authority says the update is for jailbroken consoles, so it is not an official Sony feature and does not apply to unmodified PS5s.

Editor's Summary The PS5SX2 v2.00 update enables PS2 emulation on jailbroken PS5 consoles with frame generation up to 120 FPS, 8x resolution scaling on PS5 Pro, one-click HD texture packs, and restored online multiplayer for some titles. It depends on the Relapse exploit, which supports jailbreaking firmware v13.60 or earlier, including a July 2026 firmware if users skipped v14.xx updates. The development highlights continued homebrew activity around the PS5, though it requires bypassing official firmware restrictions.
