Qualcomm Technologies, ZTE nubia and Doubao Phone Assistant Launch Nubia NaviX Ultra for Personal AI Era

Nubia launched the NaviX Ultra, an AI agent phone powered by the fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite and the consumer version of Doubao Phone Assistant. Qualcomm Technologies, ZTE nubia and Doubao said the device aims to scale agentic AI experiences on smartphones.

The release said AI is moving from cloud capabilities to personal devices and evolving from tools that respond to commands into intelligent partners that understand user preferences, sense usage scenarios and proactively help complete tasks. Smartphones are described as one of the most important platforms for this shift toward personal AI. Qualcomm said Snapdragon's AI capabilities and heterogeneous computing architecture are intended to support more intelligent, trusted and personalized personal AI experiences.

The fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite includes a custom third-generation Qualcomm Oryon CPU, a new Qualcomm Adreno GPU and a Qualcomm Hexagon NPU optimized for agentic AI. According to the release, these custom hardware modules work together to provide performance and power efficiency, forming a foundation for generative AI and agentic AI experiences.

On the Nubia NaviX Ultra, the Doubao Phone Assistant uses the platform and software-hardware co-optimization among the partners to deliver a smoother and more efficient agent experience, the release said. Users can wake the model through multiple methods and maintain fast responses in complex scenarios such as continuous dialogue, multitasking and cross-app operations.

Ni Fei, senior vice president of ZTE and president of its terminal business unit, and president of Nubia, said: “Nubia has always adhered to its position as a pioneer of AI phones and is committed to promoting the practical application of advanced AI technology in consumer terminals. The Nubia NaviX Ultra launched this time is a key layout for Nubia to upgrade terminal AI experience together with Doubao Phone Assistant. Relying on the leading platform capabilities and deep technical accumulation of the fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite, and combining Doubao Phone Assistant's capabilities in natural language understanding and multitasking, we have completed cross-domain, full-chain collaborative innovation. In the future, we will continue to lead the future development of the smartphone industry with technological breakthroughs and industry cooperation.”

Chris Patrick, senior vice president and general manager of mobile business at Qualcomm Technologies, said: “Mobile computing has reached a key turning point, and agentic AI is reshaping the way people interact with terminals. Realizing this vision requires powerful distributed computing capabilities and collaboration across the entire industry ecosystem. I am glad to witness Nubia and Doubao Phone Assistant launch the Nubia NaviX Ultra. We look forward to continuing to work with partners in the future to translate more AI technology into everyday experiences users can perceive, helping AI deliver greater value in the agent era.”
