Rabbit rolls out OS3 AI agent that doesn't need R1 hardware

Rabbit is rolling out OS3, a cloud-based AI agent that runs locally on Windows, Mac, and Linux without R1 hardware, The Verge reports.

According to Rabbit, users can add up to five devices to one account and choose their preferred AI models. OS3 will automatically determine which devices, files, apps, and AI models it needs to complete a task. Users can access it through a dedicated desktop site, a paired messaging app such as Telegram or iMessage, and on Rabbit's R1 device.

Rabbit founder Jesse Lyu told Wired that the startup has stopped manufacturing R1 devices, but the company is not giving up on AI hardware entirely. It is instead focusing on a new 'vibe-coding' cyberdeck that will run OS3 and launch within 'months,' Wired reports.

Rabbit claims OS3 will not store, copy, use, or sell users' data. The company notes that it will still keep chats and the memories stemming from them on its servers. Other AI providers linked to OS3 will handle user data under their own privacy rules.
