Razer launches Tartarus V2 Pro one-handed gaming keypad with new switches

Unlike a conventional keyboard, the Tartarus V2 Pro has no traditional QWERTY layout. It includes more than 30 keys and buttons, all programmable, and keeps an ergonomic design with an adjustable palm rest, or wrist rest, as in the previous version. According to Engadget, the new model has 31 keys and buttons.

The V2 Pro's optical switches have been upgraded from the predecessor, and the keys now offer a wider actuation depth range. The thumbpad has also been changed to an analog TMR design.

Razer has added two proprietary input controls. Snap Flex lets users attach two keys to a single press, which is intended to make multi-key actions easier to pull off with consistency. Snap Tap does the opposite: it ensures that two selected keys are never actuated at the same time.

Engadget reported that Snap Tap is aimed at FPS players who like to strafe. Putting in a reverse directional input at the very moment they stop moving can often lead to both keys accidentally being pushed at once, which can cancel the strafe and leave the avatar standing motionless.

Like the previous version, the Tartarus V2 Pro includes an adjustable wrist rest. Each key has RGB lighting for custom aesthetics, and all 31 keys and buttons are fully programmable through Razer's Synapse software. The device is available now and costs $200.
