RedMagic Astra 2 Review: World's First Liquid-Cooled Tablet Delivers Top Android Performance

TechRadar reviews the RedMagic Astra 2, the world's first liquid-cooled tablet, calling it the fastest Android tablet tested, but notes a significant price hike.

The third globally available gaming tablet from RedMagic, the Astra 2 features a 9.06-inch OLED display with up to a 185Hz refresh rate, a slightly lighter body than its predecessor, and a larger 8,300mAh battery supporting 75W wired charging. It also includes a second USB-C port for extended gaming sessions. The device measures just 6.9mm thick and weighs 363g, with a solid aluminum construction available in Eclipse black or Starfrost white.

However, the review notes a considerable price increase. The Astra 2 starts at £599 / $749 for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, rising to £679 / $849 for 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. That represents a roughly 36% jump over last year's RedMagic Astra, which TechRadar attributes partly to the current AI-driven RAM shortage.

TechRadar praised the tablet's class-topping performance, solid build quality, and fluid OLED display, but criticized its clumsy UI, lack of a kickstand, and the price bump. The review concluded that while it is now within range of the Apple iPad Air (2026) and other high-end Android tablets, no other tablet can match its all-round gaming chops.

The Astra 2 goes on sale in late August 2026, with availability confirmed in the US, UK, Australia, and much of Europe. Pre-orders are open via the official RedMagic website.
