Report: Gmail inbox reached 5.27GB — here are four ways to reclaim space
An Android Authority author found Gmail used 5.27GB of storage and shared four methods to free it up without paying.

Gmail's built-in cleanup tool can surface messages with large files; the author used it but the tool only found enough content to free up 915MB. The article therefore recommends a more thorough manual approach using Gmail search operators, such as combining has:attachment with larger:5MB, and optionally adding a date like before:2024/01/01 to isolate older messages. Deleted emails land in Trash, which the author reminds readers to empty.
For old newsletters and promotional clutter, the report suggests applying filters such as older_than:1y category:promotions to batch-delete. Finally, to keep an inbox from ballooning again, the piece recommends using Gmail's "Manage Subscriptions" feature to unsubscribe from unwanted senders and blocking those that still send emails.
