Report: GTA 6 PC Version Targets Early 2027 as Fans Point to Emulator Race

Report: GTA 6 PC version planned for early 2027, months after consoles, as fans cite a possible PS5 emulator.

GamesBeat reported the plan based on "four industry sources familiar with the studio's plans, all of whom requested anonymity to avoid damaging business relationships." Rockstar has not announced a PC edition of GTA 6, and the company has not confirmed the report.

The speculation centers on the idea that a working PS5 emulator would let PC owners play a version of GTA 6 without buying the official PC release, which many fans expect Rockstar to sell separately from the console editions. "Not waiting a year with the PS5 emulator breathing down their necks," one Reddit user wrote. Another said, "GTA 6 will probably be emulator ready a month after launch. It's almost guaranteed at this point."

Some fans framed the reported schedule as a reaction to how quickly recompilation projects have appeared for recent console titles. "Im leaning heavily towards an original 2028 PC launch, but some exec has seen the speed that recomps are coming out and realised if they dont release it quick, everyone will be playing it for free," one Reddit comment read. Another user tied the timing to recent leaks: "I actually believe this because of the leaks and emulator thing, they probably want the game out asap." The leaks referenced were reported by 'Cyberleek' and covered by GamesRadar.

Not everyone reads the timing as a response to emulation. Some fans argue Rockstar has held back a PC announcement to maximize sales of the console versions, pointing to recent price increases at retailers for the PS5 and PS5 Pro ahead of the game's launch. "Not the first rumour we've heard like this," one fan wrote. "I find it believable - I strongly suspect the PC version is already pretty much done and the 'delay' is artificial from Rockstar to maximise the console release."

GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on PS5 and Xbox on November 19. Ahead of that release, additional details about the game's gameplay features and immersive systems have emerged. Rockstar has yet to comment publicly on any PC version or release window.
