Retroid Pocket Flip 2 Drops to Record-Low $229 on Amazon
The Retroid Pocket Flip 2 clamshell Android handheld has fallen to a record-low $229 on Amazon, $40 below its $269 recommended retail price, in a discount it has rarely seen.
Android Authority reported that deals of this size are rare for the handheld. It has fallen below its recommended retail price only a few times, and had not done so at all in the previous six months. The listing also carries a 4.5-star review rating, the outlet noted.
The Flip 2 uses a foldable clamshell design that protects the screen when closed and makes the device easier to carry. Inside, it runs a Snapdragon 865 chip with active cooling and physical controls, a combination Android Authority said delivers strong performance on GameCube, Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 titles, with lighter Switch and Android gaming also possible.
The device's 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED touchscreen is one of its main selling points, cited for sharp image quality and strong color reproduction that tends to flatter older games. Android Authority described the Flip 2 as one of the more flexible handhelds in its class because it can run both classic emulators and modern Android apps in a console-style form factor.
At $229, the outlet framed the Amazon offer as an opportunity for buyers who had been waiting for the compact retro handheld to fall below its list price.
