Ricursive Intelligence Founders to Discuss AI-Designed Chips at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026

The session, titled "When AI Starts Designing Its Own Hardware," is part of the Disrupt program running October 13–15 at Moscone West in San Francisco, according to the conference organizer TechCrunch. The two founders are expected to address closing the loop between AI and chip development, building self-improving systems and the bottlenecks that slow hardware progress.

Before founding Ricursive, Goldie and Mirhoseini co-led AlphaChip at Google, an AI system that generated chip layouts in hours rather than the longer timelines required of human designers. Their work contributed to multiple generations of Google's Tensor Processing Units, the chips used for the company's AI workloads. The pair also co-founded Google's ML for Systems team; both were early employees at Anthropic and senior staff research scientists at Google DeepMind.

Goldie is Ricursive's founder and CEO and holds a Ph.D. in computer science from Stanford; she was named one of MIT Technology Review's 35 Innovators Under 35. Mirhoseini, founder and CTO, is an assistant professor of computer science at Stanford and founded its Scaling Intelligence Lab.

The company launched in late 2025 and raised $335 million within four months at a $4 billion valuation, including a $300 million Series A. Nvidia is among its investors. Ricursive says it wants to automate more of the chip-design process, from component placement through design verification, and to have its system learn across different chips so that experience with one design improves the next. The founders argue that faster chip design could open the door to new chip architectures and to more capable and efficient AI.

AI models have advanced quickly, while the hardware beneath them follows a slower development cycle. Ricursive is betting that AI can narrow that gap, and the Disrupt session is aimed at founders, investors and technology leaders tracking how quickly the AI-hardware loop can move.

The session is one of more than 200 across six industry stages, roundtables and breakouts at Disrupt. Organizers expect more than 10,000 founders, investors, operators and technology leaders, along with more than 250 speakers and more than 300 exhibiting startups. TechCrunch said September 25 is the last day to save up to $200 on a Disrupt pass, with a second pass available at 50 percent off on select ticket types.
