Rockstar previews GTA VI radio stations and confirms in-game podcasts

Rockstar previews GTA VI radio stations and confirms first in-game podcasts ahead of November 19 launch.

Players can sample the six stations on Rockstar's website. They are Cocoteo FM, Back Country Radio, AfroBank FM, The Chamber 106.6, Flash FM and Dirty South Classics. Rockstar said the game features "the biggest and widest-ranging selection of in-game radio and podcasts yet," spanning stations dedicated to everything from classic rock to talk radio.

Cocoteo FM is described as Leonida's home for modern Latin music, hosted by El Martillo and La Gata and featuring bachata, merengue, dembow and reggaeton. Back Country Radio has MW and Delta Dawne playing renegade country music to the Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn and beyond, with a roving reporter, a swamp meteorologist and Mud Dog Mike checking in from his Grassrivers airboat.

AfroBank FM features Burna and Palmsy curating African music, from 20th-century classics and undiscovered gems to contemporary sounds such as amapiano and 3-step. The Chamber 106.6 offers classic metal from the 1980s and beyond with DJ Kerry and DJ Tom. Flash FM, described as a Vice City institution, delivers pop music with Robyn and Alex. Dirty South Classics has Trick and Trina blasting regional rap and hip-hop classics.

Rockstar's website also offers six singles from GTA VI's official soundtrack, which was announced earlier this month. The Verge reported that the singles feature artists including Yung Lean and Travis Scott. TechRadar reported that Grand Theft Auto 6: The Album will include 24 original tracks from artists including Travis Scott, PinkPantheress, Morgan Wallen and Keith Richards.

Beyond music, Rockstar confirmed that "for the first time ever" Grand Theft Auto VI will introduce "a series of on-demand podcasts." Both radio and podcasts can be heard in vehicles or on foot through newly introduced headphones and earbuds connected to players' smartphones. Players can listen to podcasts while playing as Jason and Lucia, and radio while driving around Leonida and Vice City.

The Verge noted that the podcasts will feature fictional podcasters giving fictional takes on fictional events while players drive around Leonida, the game's fictional version of Florida. The radio and podcast features follow other realism details shown in a Netflix extended preview of GTA VI, including a hand-holding mechanic and police NPCs who remember what the player looks like, according to The Verge. A recent leak also revealed more personal details about the two main characters, The Verge reported.

Grand Theft Auto VI is available for preorder now and launches November 19.
