Rockstar responds to 'heartbreaking' GTA 6 leaks with statement

Rockstar Games issued its first official statement after GTA 6 gameplay leaks, calling the week 'heartbreaking' and urging fans to wait for the official reveal and Nov. 19 release.

"We are very sorry that everything has taken as long as it has — from getting the game finished (nearly there!) to sharing more details and official gameplay, and providing the community with everything you want to know," Rockstar said. The studio also urged fans to "wait a bit longer" and experience the game for themselves when it releases on November 19.

Footage appearing to come from a playable build of the game has been shared repeatedly in recent days. A person or group calling itself "CyberLeek" has claimed responsibility for the leaks, which have been used in part to promote a cryptocurrency. Publisher Take-Two Interactive has asked a court for permission to subpoena Microsoft and Discord over the copyright-infringing content in an effort to identify the source.

On Thursday, fans are expected to get an "extended look" at the game in a show streaming exclusively on Netflix at 3 p.m. ET. The long-awaited game is scheduled for release on November 19.
