Salesforce launches Headless Data 360 for MCP to feed AI agents governed customer data

Salesforce today launched Headless Data 360 for Model Context Protocol, exposing over 200 APIs as programmable endpoints so AI agents can directly access governed customer data and build insights without leaving existing tools.

Through Data 360, teams can now build, transform, map, segment and activate fields, all without leaving existing tools and interfaces. Salesforce said the platform exposes more than 200 existing application programming interfaces as programmable endpoints that AI agents can use directly, eliminating the need for specialized tools or human intervention to pull data.

The announcement builds on Salesforce's April release of Headless 360, which connected any system on Salesforce APIs via MCP and was described as the "front door" to the entire ecosystem. The new Data 360 goes deeper by providing intelligence, insights, transformation and ingestion for data through AI agents.

According to the company, users can describe what they need in natural language — for example, "lifetime value of all customers for electronics purchases, excluding software" — and the agent will write the query, create the calculation and run it. It will construct semantic models, relationships, transforms and formulas without requiring exact field names or function calls. This lets users work with agents from Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT or Salesforce's own Agentforce.

Salesforce said conversational interfaces can build data transforms, get automated intelligent field-mapping suggestions, query and inspect data graphs down to individual records, and help prepare new data streams from a new organization's customer relationship management system. What might have taken months can now be done in hours or minutes.

Dr. Paramjit "Romi" Chopra, founder and chief executive of Midwest Institute for Minimally Invasive Therapies P.C., said in a statement that Data 360 Headless lets agents reach unified patient context from any surface through MCP, and that the metadata is "physician-curated ontology," meaning responses are structured by humans and monitored by experts.

Salesforce added that the Data 360 MCP Server is Salesforce-hosted and managed and includes several prepackaged Skills for common tasks such as modeling, mapping, transforms and activation. Custom Skills can also be used to encapsulate common workflows. The Skills will be available later in August.
