Samsung Account Deactivations Reported; Some Users Recover Only After Contacting Support

Random Samsung account deactivations are being reported on Reddit and Samsung’s forum; the cause is unconfirmed, but some users recovered accounts by contacting support.

Android Authority reported that posts on Reddit and Samsung’s community forum describe accounts being randomly deactivated, allegedly for security reasons, though no specific reason is given. One user speculated that using ‘+’ or ‘.’ aliases in email addresses could be behind the suspensions, but Samsung has not officially confirmed that explanation.

In an update to that user’s original post, the user said one of their accounts was restored after contacting Samsung support, while other accounts were not. Another user said they regained access after reaching out to the company through chat support.

Samsung has not published an official statement about the issue. A company representative responded to one complaint by providing a US phone support number, 855-795-0509. However, getting through has not always been easy; some callers said they encountered an automated line, and others reported that chat support did not help.

Some users have suggested that Samsung may be deliberately deactivating alias-based accounts and only restoring them when contacted, but Android Authority said there is no evidence of that so far.

Android Authority said it has contacted Samsung for comment and will update its report when the company responds. The report noted that because a Samsung account can be deactivated without user action, avoiding the problem is difficult, and it recommended affected users call the support number above or try other support options.
