Samsung expands One UI 9 rollout to Galaxy S24, foldables, and Watch beta
Samsung has started rolling out stable Android 17-based One UI 9 to the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 in South Korea, while releasing new One UI 9 Watch betas for the Galaxy Watch 8 series and first-generation Watch Ultra. Broader US and European availability is expected to follow.
South Korea is receiving the update first, as it has for Samsung's other recent One UI 9 releases. Android Authority reported that X user Kailash shared screenshots showing the stable build reaching both beta testers and regular Galaxy S24 users in the home market. The rollout is expected to expand to the United States, Europe, and other markets after the initial Korean release.
For Galaxy S24 series owners moving from the One UI 9 beta, the final update is a relatively small download of about 500MB. The build carries firmware S92xNKSUGEZIF and the Sept. 5, 2026, security patch. Users upgrading directly from One UI 8.5 face a much larger download of roughly 3.8GB, which reflects the full Android 17 upgrade rather than the smaller finishing package sent to beta testers.
Samsung is also bringing the stable release to its 2024 foldables. Another screenshot shared on X showed that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are receiving build number EZIH in Korea, according to Android Authority. The report did not provide a complete size figure for the foldables' beta-to-stable OTA.
One UI 9 includes the same broad changes already arriving on newer Galaxy phones. They include expanded Galaxy AI features, more Quick Panel customization, privacy and security improvements, Samsung Health upgrades, and refinements across Samsung's apps and interface.
Separately, Samsung is rolling out new One UI 9 Watch beta updates. Android Authority reported that the company released the fourth One UI 9 Watch beta for the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and the third beta for the first-generation Galaxy Watch Ultra. The update for the Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic carries build ZZJ1 and weighs 226.19MB, with AOD-related bug fixes, a patch for an error in the Samsung Health app, and improved home button shortcuts, according to the changelog cited by the report.
The first-generation Galaxy Watch Ultra's third beta has a near-identical changelog, according to the report. The Watch beta rollout appears limited to South Korea for now, though Android Authority said it should not take long to appear in the United States. Samsung began the One UI 9 Watch beta for the Galaxy Watch 8 series in late August.
