ZDNet's mobile experts have tested phones from Google, Samsung, and Motorola, and the August update added the Pixel 11 Pro series, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Motorola Razr Ultra (2026). The Galaxy S26 Ultra stands out for its performance, display tech, and camera quality, powered by an updated Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset that handles high-end games and heavy AI tasks smoothly. The phone also supports 60W wired charging, the fastest ZDNet has tested on any Samsung phone.

The runner-up is the Google Pixel 10a, priced at $425, with a durable design, a reliable camera system, and support for up to seven years of OS and security updates. ZDNet notes that the Galaxy S26 Ultra is large at 6.9 inches, lacks Qi2 magnetic adapter support, and has a camera configuration nearly identical to last year's model. Those seeking a more affordable or compact option might consider the Samsung Galaxy S26 or S26 Plus.
