Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Undercuts Apple Watch SE 3 in Currys Deal

The discount covers four Currys variants, according to TechRadar. The 40mm LTE-enabled model is £269, down from £319. The 44mm Bluetooth-only model is £249, down from £299. The 44mm LTE version is £299, down from £349. In the US, TechRadar spotted the 44mm Bluetooth-only Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 discounted to $307 from $329.99 at Best Buy, while other models have smaller discounts, such as $12 off the 40mm, or no discount at all.

TechRadar's review gave the Galaxy Watch 8 4.5 stars and called it unequivocally the best mainline Galaxy Watch in ages. The publication said the watch has 64GB of storage, AI-powered health metrics including Sleep and Energy scores, a Heart Health Management suite and fitness features. Its onboard running coach offers more than 160 plans, from beginner 5Ks to long-distance races, and its 3,000-nit screen is designed for notifications, messages and workout stats. TechRadar also praised Samsung's sleep tracking.

According to TechRadar, the LTE versions can be added to a phone's data plan, allowing users to access WhatsApp, email and other apps without a phone nearby. TechRadar noted this is useful for running without a phone. The publication also said the watch can act as a camera viewfinder and work with Samsung apps, including Samsung Health.

TechRadar said Samsung has already launched the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9, but described it as a very iterative upgrade. Because prices for the older model have fallen, TechRadar argued the Galaxy Watch 8 offers better value than buying the latest version. It said Samsung phone users are a natural audience, while runners of all experience levels may benefit from the coaching plans and the wrist fit. Anyone interested in keeping fit and managing notifications without a phone could also get use from the watch.
