Samsung Galaxy Watch owners report burn-like wrist marks under sensor arrays
Galaxy Watch owners report burn-like wrist marks; some devices drained overnight, Android Authority says.
One Reddit user, ksima_03, said a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro burned them. The user routinely wears the watch to bed with a full charge, but on this occasion reported waking to a dead watch that would not turn on and a burn-like mark on their wrist.
Android Authority said multiple users have posted photos of circular red marks under the sensor array. In several cases, the watches also lost battery overnight. The report linked that pattern to possible background processing and localized heat, while noting that the marks have appeared directly under the sensor area rather than elsewhere on the wrist.
Samsung generally attributes rash-like symptoms to strap tightness or hygiene, according to the report. But Android Authority said fluid-filled blistering in some cases suggests potential thermal burns rather than skin irritation.
The complaints follow scrutiny of Samsung’s recent Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, which the report said face slow charging due to thermal throttling. Some users have resorted to DIY charging fans to get the fastest charging speed, Android Authority reported.
