Samsung Gallery Begins Rolling Out Google Photos Backup Integration

The change was reported by the outlet, citing tipster Ice Universe on X, who said the integration is already working on their device. According to the report, the newest version of Samsung Gallery, v15.9.01.7, adds a "Sync photos and videos" option. Users can reach it by opening the Gallery app and tapping Menu, then Settings, then "Sync photos and videos." Those who do not see the option have not yet received the rollout, the report said.

Android Authority said it could not see the feature on its own Galaxy phones, which indicates the rollout is staged or limited for now.

The integration appears to stop short of a full two-way link between the two services. According to the report, it sounds as though users cannot view their entire Google Photos library inside Samsung's photo app; the feature covers automatic backup of photos and videos rather than browsing Google's full collection.

The rollout follows Samsung's confirmation earlier this year that it was ending its partnership with Microsoft for backing up photos and videos to the cloud. That arrangement let Galaxy owners automatically back up photos and videos to OneDrive through Samsung Gallery. Earlier this week it emerged that Google would team up with Samsung instead, and the reported Gallery update appears to be the first result of that tie-up.

The report did not include a statement from Samsung or Google on the rollout timeline, or on which devices and regions are covered.
