Samsung Good Lock’s Dropship module fails to share files with iPhones
Samsung’s Dropship module is failing to send files to iPhones, users say; Samsung plans a November update.
The issue affects Galaxy users who rely on Dropship as an alternative to Quick Share when sending files to Apple handsets. When users try to share a file, the module returns an error message, Android Authority reported. One affected user said photo files failed on six out of seven iPhones tested. In that case, the message read: “The coordinates you entered are incorrect, or the item has expired.”
Dropship predates Quick Share’s AirDrop support. The Good Lock module let Samsung users send up to 5GB of files per day to other devices, including iPhones. It was primarily restricted to users in South Korea, though users outside the country have been able to sideload it. The bug has now broken that functionality for affected users.
Samsung confirmed that it is working on an update that will be released in November, according to Android Authority. The error appears when users attempt to share a file, based on the user reports cited, rather than during setup or installation.
