Samsung HW-Q990F Soundbar Drops to Near-Record-Low $999 for Labor Day at Best Buy
TechRadar reports the Samsung HW-Q990F soundbar is on sale for $999 at Best Buy, near its record-low price, with immersive Atmos and gaming-friendly HDMI 2.1.
The HW-Q990F, released last year, features 11.1.4 channels and 23 speakers spread across a front soundbar, two rear speakers and a subwoofer. TechRadar notes it supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X formats and says the unit is one of the best soundbars tested in recent years.
TechRadar reviewer James said the most notable change from the previous model is a redesigned compact subwoofer. He initially doubted the smaller sub could maintain bass performance, but found it still produces room-shaking punch and precise, detailed bass, for example in scenes from The Batman. Testing with Star Wars: A New Hope revealed accurate detail and precise mapping of sound effects, including TIE Fighter lasers, with overhead flight demonstrating strong Atmos performance.
The soundbar also includes HDMI 2.1 ports that support 4K 120Hz, useful for owners of multiple game consoles, and James said the ports deliver top-notch gaming performance. TechRadar gave the system a five-star rating. The current $999 price is notable because, the outlet says, it rarely drops below $1,000.
