Samsung Rolls Out One UI 9 to Galaxy S26 Series and S26 FE

Samsung has begun rolling out One UI 9 to the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra, with the S26 FE also receiving the update, bringing foldable-first features like My FanCam to more phones.

The S26 rollout comes a bit over a month after the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 began shipping, following One UI 9's debut on those foldables, Engadget reported. With the wider release, more users of slate-style smartphones can access foldable-first features such as My FanCam.

My FanCam can automatically crop a video to focus on one person even while that person moves. Engadget gave the example of shooting an entire band in a wide frame at a concert and letting the feature crop the video to a preferred member in a chosen aspect ratio.

One UI 9 includes several other AI-powered tools. Now Brief adds generative and editable cards, which Samsung says are intended to give users more control over what appears in daily summaries. Samsung says Now Nudge can pull personal context from across the Galaxy ecosystem and offer suggestions, including making it easier to bring reservation details into a text conversation.

Interpreter's new Thread View is designed to help users track translated conversations by making earlier remarks easier to review, according to Engadget. Translations in Conversation Mode are also said to be faster. Voice Recorder offers summaries in a clearer, more structured format that can include headings and tables, Samsung says.

Document Scan is getting an update that Engadget describes as making it easier to capture curved book pages and pages with folded corners without extensive manual adjustments. One UI 9 also adds Security Brief, which provides malware alerts and flags other security issues, and Privacy Alerts. Samsung is expanding scam call detection to Japan, Canada and India.
