Samsung Sells Certified Renewed Galaxy Phones on Amazon for First Time

Samsung now sells certified renewed Galaxy phones on Amazon, starting at $489 for the Galaxy S24 FE.

The certified renewed Galaxy S24 FE with 128GB of storage starts at $489, compared with its $649 launch price, according to The Verge. The current-generation Galaxy S26 FE starts at $699. Samsung's certified renewed phones come with a new battery and a one-year warranty.

The Verge reported that its writer bought the same 128GB Galaxy S24 FE model used on Back Market in August for $329, more than $100 below Samsung's certified renewed price. The phone looked new and still had five more years of OS updates, the report said. It came with a one-year warranty from Back Market but not a new battery; the writer said it has worked well and lasted a couple of days on a single charge.

The report said third-party refurbished phones sometimes include new batteries, and buyers can also arrange a battery replacement themselves. Even after paying for a professional replacement, the writer estimated, the total would have been less than Samsung's $489 price for the same pre-owned phone. Apple and Google also sell used phones at a discount through their online stores, The Verge noted.
