Samsung T9 1TB Portable SSD Falls to £192 at Amazon Ahead of Big Deal Days
Amazon is selling the 1TB Samsung T9 Portable SSD for £192, down from £240, ahead of Big Deal Days. TechRadar says the USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 drive reaches 2,000MB/s and carries a five-year guarantee.
The T9 uses USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 connectivity and NVMe technology, with sequential read and write speeds of up to 2,000MB/s when connected to compatible hardware. It has a compact enclosure measuring about 8.8 by 6 by 1.4 centimeters, backward USB compatibility, and a five-year manufacturer's guarantee from Samsung.
TechRadar says the drive is suited to professionals, students, photographers and creators who need fast, compact external storage for transferring and working with large files. Its speed is presented as particularly useful for large photo and video files, and for moving between computers.
In a four-star review, TechRadar's expert Mark wrote that the "positive features of this drive are great read speeds and its ability to sustain write performance, especially on the larger capacities." He added that it is "capable of handling knocks, although Samsung doesn’t claim it is waterproof."
The £192 price is not the lowest on record. TechRadar said the 1TB T9 fell to £86 in November 2025, before what it described as a component crisis sent prices sharply higher. At the time of the report, Amazon's price was below Argos at £205 and Currys at £209. TechRadar also said the current price is as low as it has seen the drive this year.
TechRadar recommends the T9 for users who regularly transfer large files, edit high-resolution photos or video, or need fast portable storage for moving between computers. It says buyers who mainly store documents and occasional backups, or whose computers do not support USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, may not benefit from the drive's full performance and could choose a slower, less expensive portable SSD.
