Samsung Wallet Digital Key Now Unlocks Select GM Vehicles

Samsung Wallet adds digital key support for select GM vehicles in the US and Canada, starting with certain Cadillac EVs.

GM says support starts on select 2026 and 2027 Cadillac EVs, including the 2025-2027 Lyriq, 2026-2027 Optic, and 2027 Vistiq. More models will be supported by the end of 2026.

GM announced earlier this month that digital keys would also be coming to a few GMC and Chevy trucks in December. It said the feature is not a Samsung Wallet exclusive and will come to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet for compatible iPhones, Apple Watches, and Pixel devices. It is unclear whether those devices are also supported as of today. GM says customers will see a notification in the “What’s New” section of their vehicle’s mobile app when digital key support becomes available.

With the digital key enabled, GM says a driver can automatically unlock the car door when approaching it without taking the phone out of a pocket. The car will lock again automatically when the driver walks away. Digital keys can also be shared with others, and they can be suspended or deleted if the device is stolen.

Only Samsung Galaxy devices with both ultra-wideband (UWB) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) will work. The supported models include the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra; Galaxy S21 Plus and S21 Ultra; Galaxy S22 Plus and S22 Ultra; Galaxy S23 Plus and S23 Ultra; Galaxy S24 Plus and S24 Ultra; Galaxy S25 Plus, S25 Ultra and S25 Edge; Galaxy S26 Plus and S26 Ultra; and the Galaxy Z Fold 2, Z Fold 3, Z Fold 4, Z Fold 5, Z Fold 6, Z Fold 7, Z TriFold, Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra.
