ZDNET's reviewer said the foldable stand, which measures under an inch thick when closed, opens into a stable platform with rubber feet and a smooth hinge. It lifts a tablet 7/8 of an inch off the table and tilts it back 23 degrees, an adjustment the reviewer said had a "huge impact" on ergonomics. The setup eliminated the hunching and wrist strain that had made previous tablet use uncomfortable.

The accessory also functions as a hub. On the back, a USB-C input port supports up to 100W of charging pass-through, plus USB-A and USB-C data ports with transfer speeds up to 10 Gbps. An HDMI port supports 4K video at 60 frames per second, and UHS-II SD and microSD card slots on the left side offer transfer speeds up to 312 MB/s, making the unit suitable for photographers and videographers, the reviewer wrote.

The reviewer, who had owned iPads and Android tablets but repeatedly found them unwieldy for extended work, said the Satechi hub "changed how I use tablets." The device allows a workstation to be assembled anywhere, and its built-in hub removes the need for a separate dock, a common limitation of tablets with a single USB-C port. Satechi sent the unit to ZDNET for review.
