Savannah Officer Fired After Giving Flock Login to ICE Agent Husband
Savannah officer fired for giving Flock login to ICE agent husband, who ran 983 searches tied to 97 plates.
While Tyler Harpe had unauthorized access, he conducted 983 searches related to 97 license plates, Savannah-based ABC affiliate WJCL reported, according to The Verge. The plates were overwhelmingly registered to Hispanic drivers.
According to The Verge, the Harpes defended their actions, saying they did not use the access for personal reasons and that the searches were strictly for “law-enforcement purposes.”
Interim Major Max Nowinsky originally recommended a light eight-hour suspension for Amber Harpe. Major Michelle Halford and Assistant Police Chief Robert Gavin disagreed, and they removed her from the force. Harpe was fired along with five other Savannah Police Department employees after an internal investigation uncovered Flock misuse. Four of those employees were later arrested; Harpe was not one of them.
