Seoul Stocks Fall Sharply as AI Investment Concerns Hit Chip Shares
Seoul's KOSPI fell 2.25% late Thursday morning as AI investment concerns triggered a chip-share selloff, Yonhap reported.
The KOSPI fell 129.12 points to 5,605.54 as of 11:20 a.m. The index opened 1.14% lower and extended its losses amid apparent profit-taking.

Meta Platforms boosted its bet on the AI sector after delivering sound earnings, according to the report.
In Seoul, technology stocks led the market lower. Samsung Electronics fell 3.36% and SK hynix lost 3.63%. Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co., an electronics components affiliate of Samsung Electronics, edged down 0.98% after opening higher on news of cooperation with Nvidia.
The Korean won was trading at 1,324 won against the U.S. dollar as of 11:20 a.m., up 2 won from the previous session's close, Yonhap reported.
