Serato Brings Flagship DJ Features to iPhone and iPad
Serato DJ is now available on iPhone and iPad, bringing most of its flagship DJ features to mobile for the first time.
Until now, Serato had only offered limited mobile software, such as Pyro, which mainly added autofades between songs in a playlist, according to The Verge. Competitors including Rekordbox and Algoriddim have had proper mobile DJ apps for some time.
The iOS version lets users transfer their library directly from Serato DJ 5.0 on a laptop over USB-C or wirelessly. It supports stem separation, Serato’s full suite of effects, EQ tools, BPM matching, key sync, cue points and recording for live performances.
DJs can perform directly from the touchscreen in various layouts. The app also supports more than 120 hardware controllers, though some older controllers may require an adapter. It includes support for Digital Vinyl Systems for scratching and for DJs who prefer the feel of real records.
Serato DJ for iOS is available as a feature-limited download from the App Store. A license costs $149, or it can be bundled with Serato DJ Pro, Serato Studio and all of its expansions for $14.99 a month.
