Shark Launches FlexStyle IonCurl Hair Styler With Ionic Anti-Frizz Tech
Shark has launched the FlexStyle IonCurl, a multi-function hair styler using Coanda airflow and negative ions to reduce static and frizz, positioning it as an affordable alternative to the Dyson Airwrap.
The IonCurl wraps hair around its barrel using Coanda airflow, the same principle used by the Dyson Airwrap. Shark says the new model offers stronger Coanda airflow than the original FlexStyle, so hair is wrapped more firmly around the barrel during styling. An AirSet button lets users pause the airflow mid-styling or release a pulse of cold air to help set curls.
Shark is offering the styler in two configurations. The four-in-one model ships with two 32mm Coanda curlers, a FrizzFighter high shine polisher, an oval brush and a styling concentrator nozzle. The five-in-one version adds two curlers with a smaller diameter.
A new Scalp Shield mode activates automatically to control temperature when drying hair near the scalp, which Shark says helps protect delicate new growth. TechRadar compared it to the Scalp Protect mode on the Dyson Supersonic Nural hair dryer.
The original Shark FlexStyle was tested by three reviewers at TechRadar, who praised its versatility, drying power and range of attachments for different hair types. "It's well-designed, packs a good amount of power, and is comfortable to use," the reviewers concluded. "The auto-wrap barrels work as advertised and make this an affordable alternative to the Airwrap."
TechRadar said it will test the FlexStyle IonCurl soon and publish a full review comparing it with other affordable hair stylers.
