Shark PowerDetect Speed cordless vacuum falls to £319.99 on Amazon, a £200 discount

Shark's PowerDetect Speed cordless vacuum is on sale on Amazon for £319.99, £200 off its £519.99 list price, a record low for two colorways, according to TechRadar. The model carries a 4.5-star rating, though its battery life drew some criticism.

According to TechRadar, the reduced price is only slightly above the deepest discount previously seen on the vacuum, which came during Amazon Prime Day. The publication describes the PowerDetect Speed as a new and upgraded version of the vacuum that sits at the top of its buying guide for the category.

In TechRadar's review, the vacuum received 4.5 stars, with the publication pointing to what it called exceptional cleaning power, a convenient auto-empty function and useful dirt detection features. The review also found that battery life disappointed somewhat, although it was still strong enough to support the 4.5-star rating.

TechRadar lists anti-hair wrap technology, suction strong enough for multiple surfaces, lights that reveal dust and a flexible wand for hard-to-reach places among the model's features. The auto-empty dock is designed to trap dust and debris rather than let it spread when a bin is emptied by hand.

TechRadar deals editor James Pickard wrote that he bought a Shark vacuum five years ago that is still working, and said the PowerDetect Speed would be his pick if he were upgrading from the older Shark Stratos model he currently uses, mainly because of the convenience of the auto-empty dock.

Cheaper models that omit some of the extras are also discounted. TechRadar recommends the Shark PowerPro Pet Cordless, on Amazon for £199, down from £299.99, as an alternative for buyers working with a smaller budget. That model does not include the auto-empty dock.

The discounts described come from a single retail listing tracked by TechRadar, and the publication's assessment of the vacuum is based on its own review. No comment from Shark or Amazon was included in the report.
