Snap Set to Launch $2,195 Specs AR Glasses at Los Angeles Event

Snap is set to launch its $2,195 Specs standalone AR glasses in Los Angeles on Sept. 16, 2026. CEO Evan Spiegel's keynote is expected at 4 p.m. PT, as Snap positions Specs as a wearable computer rather than rival AI glasses.

The device has an oversized design. Spiegel has said Specs are not like the AI glasses that Snap's competitors have championed. He has presented Specs instead as a "wearable computer" that can accompany users throughout the day and perhaps make them a little less dependent on their phones.

Snap has detailed some of the hardware and performance upgrades it has worked on over the last few years, but much remains unknown about this version of Specs. Engadget said questions include what it is actually like to use the glasses, whether they are comfortable, what third-party app support exists, and how AI fits into the product. More information is expected by the time the event ends.

Snap is hosting a dedicated livestream for the launch. Engadget said it will also cover the event in person in Los Angeles and provide live updates and analysis. Its coverage is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. EDT on Sept. 16, ahead of Spiegel's keynote.
