Sony sets Nov. 19 launch for $100 PlayStation Pulse headset
Sony's $100 PlayStation Pulse headset ships Nov. 19, with pre-orders Oct. 29; Pulse Edge is due in 2027.
Sony said availability in other countries will be announced later. The headset comes in white and midnight black. At $100, it costs $50 less than the PlayStation Pulse Elite, Sony's first planar magnetic headset.
The PlayStation Pulse uses larger planar magnetic drivers than the previous model. Sony says the drivers deliver fuller, deeper bass while keeping the clean sounds players have enjoyed from Pulse Elite. The company also says the drivers' spatial accuracy helps players pick up directional cues during games. The microphone has AI-enhanced noise rejection to reduce background sounds.
The headset supports Bluetooth and Sony's PlayStation Link protocol, which connects to supported devices including the PS5, PlayStation Portal, Mac and PC. Sony says the technology allows seamless switching between connected devices and provides lossless, ultra-low latency audio.
Sony is also preparing a higher-end model, the Pulse Edge, for 2027. Its $220 Pulse Elevate wireless speakers, which also use planar magnetic drivers, are set to ship next month.
