Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones hit lowest-ever $198 price in Amazon Labor Day sale
Sony WH-1000XM5 noise-canceling headphones are available for $198 at Amazon in a Labor Day weekend deal, about half off their regular price.
According to TechRadar, all four color options of the over-ear headphones are discounted to the same $198 price. That matches the lowest price the model has ever reached; TechRadar said the WH-1000XM5 previously dropped to $198 only once, in June. The price cut saves shoppers more than $200.
The headphones are now a previous-generation model for Sony, but TechRadar says they remain stellar noise-canceling headphones, particularly at this price. The newer Sony WH-1000XM6 are also reduced during Labor Day sales, but only to $398, making the fifth-generation XM5 the stronger bargain.
For shoppers looking for a cheaper Sony option, TechRadar noted that the entry-level Sony WH-CH520 are down to $38 from $69.99 at Amazon. However, those headphones offer a more basic design and lack some premium features.
The only notable limitation of the XM5 model, TechRadar wrote, is that it does not fold flat for compact travel, although Sony includes a carrying case where the ear cups can lie flat. The review-based outlet called the XM5 a straightforward recommendation, saying that even at full price the headphones are "the real deal."
