South Koreans' AI utilization level 1.7 times global average: report
Google Korea cites report showing South Koreans' AI utilization is 1.7 times the global average, with high interest in AI education and productivity gains.
The London-based strategy consultancy surveyed 1,057 adult South Korean nationals from April 17 to 30. According to the findings, 40 percent of respondents said companies preferred candidates with AI capabilities during hiring, while 74 percent expressed interest in education aimed at improving their AI skills.
The desire for AI-related learning extended to parents, with 85 percent saying that learning to use AI effectively is as important as studying subjects like math and English.
The report also examined the impact of AI education on workplace productivity. It found that training employees to write advanced AI prompts reduced their working hours by one-third compared with using basic prompts. The annual productivity gain from such training was estimated at 2.3 million won to 4.7 million won per person.
Google Korea released the findings without additional comment.
