SparkTV Offers Free Ad-Supported Streaming in Selected Markets as TechRadar Says VPN Can Unlock Access Abroad

TechRadar said SparkTV has hundreds of titles and can be watched on a television, on the go through its app or via YouTube. It is supported through third-party platforms including Plex, Sling, Vizio and TCL, and it is free to use, though the ad-supported model means viewers will see commercials.

The service is free in selected countries including the United States and Latin America but not in markets such as the United Kingdom and Ireland. TechRadar reported that SparkTV is also available in Europe and Latin America, though in Europe it is usually called SparkleMovies and carries similar content. It can also be found on LG channels in Scandinavia and the Netherlands. In the United States and Latin America, content can be watched in English or Spanish. SparkTV also produces content for Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore and parts of Africa.

For viewers traveling abroad, TechRadar said a VPN can bypass geo-locked restrictions and make a device appear to be back home. It warned that many VPNs do not work with SparkTV, but said Proton VPN does, along with most other major streaming services such as Prime and Peacock as well as UK services ITVX and BBC iPlayer. Proton VPN is based in Switzerland, offers servers in 145 countries and was cited by TechRadar at an offer price of $2.99 per month. SparkTV is built to be used on the go, so a stable internet connection may be enough in some cases, but TechRadar said a VPN may be the best way to guarantee access to the full library and an account while traveling.

Smart TV support includes Samsung models from 2017 and newer, LG models from 2016 and newer, and select Vizio SmartCast, Hisense, Sharp and Sony televisions, with support varying by model and app store availability. Streaming media players and set-tops include Roku players and Roku TVs, Apple TV fourth generation and 4K, Chromecast with Google TV and Google TV devices, Android TV devices, and Amazon Fire TV devices and Fire TV Edition TVs. Game consoles and smart displays include Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4/Pro, and Google Nest Hub or other smart displays with YouTube support.

The catalog includes titles such as All Aboard for Love, Romantic Rewrite, Cinderella in the Caribbean, Love Finds You in Sugarcreek, Love Unleashed, Meet Me in New York, Romance on the Ranch, Lost in Love, Beauty and the Billionaire and Retreat to Paradise. Series include Seeking Persephone, Guarded and The Love Club.

TechRadar said SparkTV is legal and free, similar to Tubi or PlutoTV, and that viewers can access a library of content as long as they accept intermittent advertising. Its YouTube channel is also free and has the necessary licensing to show the movies and series, according to the report.
