SpeakON Ships $129 MagSafe AI Voice Button With Its Own Microphone

SpeakON has shipped a 25 g MagSafe AI voice button with its own microphone, battery and storage, priced at $129 one-time in the U.S. It writes processed text directly into iPhone apps and is set to add reviewable Notes, Tasks and Actions in October 2026.

SpeakON calls the category an AI Communicator, taking its framing from the Communicator in Star Trek: users should not need to be at a terminal to stay connected. The company says the target user is a founder, manager, consultant or field professional who is not short on ideas but is short on time to stop, unlock a phone, switch apps and type.

The hardware measures 58 by 58 by 6 mm and weighs 25 g. A 220 mAh battery is rated for 10 or more hours of continuous use and more than two weeks of standby, charging in under 1.5 hours over USB-C. It has 128 MB of onboard storage, a stated capture range of roughly 60 cm, and supports up to five minutes of continuous input per press. The box includes a USB-C cable and a magnetic ring for iPhones without MagSafe.

The architectural decision that separates it from an app is the microphone. Audio is captured by the button, not the iPhone system microphone. The phone microphone stays free, so the device does not fight CarPlay, a call or FaceTime for the resource. The app never needs continuous background microphone access, a permission most voice tools request and most users dislike granting. Because the button has its own battery and storage, it keeps working when the phone is locked or offline, buffering on-device and syncing when a connection returns.

SpeakON installs as a system-wide iOS keyboard extension. That mechanism lets output appear inside Messages, Mail, Slack, Notion or any field that accepts keyboard input, with no app switching and no clipboard round trip. A user presses, speaks, and the processed text appears directly in the active text field, ready for review or editing before sending. The app requires iOS 16.0 or above; magnetic attachment requires iPhone 12 or newer.

The current software is a text-shaping layer rather than a verbatim transcription one. Smart Polish strips fillers, restarts and redundant phrasing, so the output reads as written rather than dictated. Smart List detects sequence intent and returns structured bullets or to-dos instead of a run-on paragraph. Style detects the destination app and adapts register, so the same spoken sentence lands casual in Messages and professional in Mail. Translation delivers text in 12 languages directly into the active field, with no third-party app in the loop. Dictionary persists names, jargon and preferred spellings across sessions. Voice Edits revises existing output by speaking rather than typing. Notes stores captures as titled, editable, searchable entries, which is where offline captures land. All of it is available now, with no subscription required.

SpeakON states that voice data is encrypted, never sold and not used to train AI models, with user control over cloud sync. The company reports SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA compliance and GDPR compliance.

The device is available in Pearl, Black, Navy Blue, Amber and Sage. Shipping covers the 48 contiguous states plus Washington, D.C., with a 30-day return window and a 12-month warranty. The companion app is a free download and works without the hardware. SpeakON Agent, which extends the same press from producing text to preparing reviewable Notes, Tasks and user-confirmed Actions, is scheduled for October 2026.
