Speedo launches SpeedoIQ smart swim tracker for Vanquisher goggles
Speedo introduces SpeedoIQ, a removable smart module for Vanquisher goggles that tracks all four strokes and is approved for competition. Available now at $189, per The Verge.
The module is the centerpiece of Speedo's new "swim intelligence" platform. Unlike rival smart goggles from Form, SpeedoIQ has no built-in display; it records data and syncs to a companion app after the swim, where users can review their performance, including head placement. Speedo says it is the only system that analyzes all four strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.
The company emphasizes that its post-swim data will not "distract the user," though an Engadget reporter argued that a heads-up display can be more useful in the water. Speedo also confirmed that no subscription is required. According to an Engadget report, the price had not yet been announced; however, The Verge reports that the Vanquisher goggles with the iQ module cost $189 and are available to order now in multiple colors.
The module is transferable to another pair of Vanquisher goggles if needed. Speedo says it is suitable for athletes from Olympians to beginners, offering coaching information to help improve.
