Spotify Expands Podcast Partner Program to 35 Regions

Spotify expands its podcast partner program to 35 regions, offering eligible creators ad and Premium revenue sharing.

The program lets podcasters earn money from advertising and Premium revenue sharing. Eligible podcasters will be able to earn revenue from both video and audio podcasts, according to TechCrunch. Video impressions by Premium users count toward revenue, as does ad revenue share from free users listening to the show.

Spotify said podcasters can distribute their shows on other platforms and also keep all the revenue they earn from sponsorships. The program has so far run in the United States, Europe and Australia. The company described the new rollout as its biggest geographical expansion for the partner podcast program.

Spotify also reported growth in video podcasts. The company said video podcast consumption on Spotify has increased 140% since the feature launched in 2022. Its total monthly payouts to shows have gone up by a third since January.

Earlier this year, Spotify changed its eligibility criteria for earning revenue from video podcasts. Creators can now apply if they have at least three episodes online, 2,000 consumption hours and 1,000 engaged audience members for the last 30 days. Spotify said the change increased consumption in participating shows by an average of 45%.
