Spotify launches Playlist Notes to add context to tracks, audiobooks and podcast episodes
Spotify is rolling out Playlist Notes, letting users and editors annotate tracks, audiobooks and podcast episodes in playlists on Android and iOS.
To add a note, users open one of their own or collaborative playlists, tap the three-dot icon next to a track, select "Add note," write the note and save it. The note appears directly below the track with the user's name.
Spotify's editorial team will also use Playlist Notes to explain why a track is included, highlight its cultural relevance, or describe why it matters. These curator notes are available in participating playlists such as Today's Top Hits, RapCaviar, Hot Country, All New Pop, mint and Fresh Finds Hip-Hop.
The feature for Spotify-curated playlists is rolling out in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand for users aged 16 or older on both Premium and Free plans. For user-created playlists, Playlist Notes is rolling out on Android and iOS in more than 100 regions.
